Houdini has really graduated to the top of his class through his individual ultrasound performance and his ability to sire very desirable offspring in both his bull and heifer calves in our fullblood and percentage herd. He had an amazing 14.46 Rib Eye Area(REA) at 995 pounds which gives him a whopping 1.45 REA/CWT. His backfat was only .07 which is not surprising as he was on a total forage ration but what was surprising is his outstanding percent intramuscular fat (IMF) of 3.96 for a 130 IMF ratio within his contemporaries. His eye muscle shape(RES) score was an excellent 0.68 and tenderness rating was 2.3 (very tender) It is rare to find a Lowline bull that is so long bodied and so structurally sound that excels in all of the carcass categories and has such a unique outcross pedigree that he can be used on all of the Admiral, Nevada, Quartermaster, Navigator and Beau Lad bloodlines. |
